Conley Announces for State Representative

Barnstable, MA…Today in front of a large crowd Susanne Conley, the co-founder of Save Greater Dowses Beach formally announced her candidacy for State Representative in Barnstable’s 2nd House District.

“I love Cape Cod.  I did not have the good fortune to be born here.  My husband and I chose Barnstable as our hometown.  When I saw the plans to hurt our beaches and our way of life, I did not sit on the sidelines and hope for the best.  I stepped forwarded while others remained silent.  We need a proactive State Representative who will have the courage to fight for Cape Cod.  That’s why today I am proudly declaring my candidacy for State Representative,” said Conley.

As the next State Representative, Conley will not only fight to preserve our beaches and the Cape Cod way of life, but she is also committed to making our state more affordable and ending Massachusetts being a magnet state for migrants that is taking resources from our truly needy and communities.  Other priorities include improving our economy by helping small businesses, strengthening public safety, helping our Seniors and Veterans, and ensuring every child receives a quality education.

“Having retired, I know how difficult inflation is on a fixed income budget.  Our state needs to be affordable.  We need a Representative who is focused on helping the taxpayers and seniors – not the special interest groups.  I will work to lower the tax burden and other costs such as utilities and insurance,” said Conley.  “Serving as State Representative should not be about collecting a paycheck and pension.  It should be about making a positive difference for the people.  As your next State Representative, I will work for results not the Speaker.”

Susanne Conley is a lifelong resident of Massachusetts who cares deeply about her community and our state.  She graduated from Framingham State University.  She received her Master’s Degree from Brandeis University and a Doctorate from UMASS Boston.  Following a 20 year career in Massachusetts public higher education, she moved to Cape Cod, where she co-founded and chairs the community group Save Greater Dowses Beach. Susanne has volunteered for Town of Barnstable committee work, has chaired a fundraiser to support breast cancer treatment on Cape Cod, and is a former member and Chair of the Board of United Way of Tri County.
